First of all, pretty green-headed duck . . . .
Then, there was some eagle sightings but far away so not very helpful . ..
Then, the first sign of the Mystery Bird was a couple of weeks ago. Be sure to notice the big BIG crab in his beak!
Dunno what it is, can't quite tell from this shot. That was a couple weeks ago; yesterday I was down at the end of Spanish Banks (at the park, not out in the water) and spied something that looked suspiciously like this up in a tree . . . looking right at me
I stood under it for a while, striking up conversations with the joggers and dog walkers. No one really seemed to know what it is (hawk, golden eagle) but they all agreed they had not seen it around before. I'm just surprised that the entrenched bald eagle population is allowing such an interloper into their territory!
Then, most obliging it prepared to take off . ..
All in all, I found it worth getting out of bed at 7:30 on a blazing sunshine spring morning!
